Hovering Heliotrope
This installation, placed in the heart of the Dutch Ministry of Finance in The Hague, consists of 56 indoor solar panels (IPV). Contrary to the traditional PV cell, this new technique allows cells to be transparent, coloured and organic.
This project, part of the strategy to make all governmental buildings in the NL energy neutral and circular by 2050, comprises red and blue mounted elements that track the sun by rotating around their diagonal axes, ensuring the maximum solar yield at any time. At night, LED strips that are integrated in the installation will illuminate the atrium. The installation is fully autonomous: the solar cells power its turning mechanisms and LED lights.
Project as part of the Young Innovator Programme 2019 Rijksvastgoedbedrijf.
